NSLI-Y

NSLI-Y (National Security Language Initiative for Youth) Program:

 

Description:

 

The goal of the NSLI for Youth Summer Intensive Language Program administered by American Councils is to rapidly increase NSLI-Y scholars' vocabulary and ability to communicate with confidence in Russian. This is done by improving the scholars' Russian in all four skills: reading, writing, speaking, and listening. The program accomplishes this through in-class language instruction, cultural classes and activities, volunteer work, and host family stays.

CLS

CLS (Critical Language Scholarship) Program:

 

Program Description:

 

The CLS Program is part of a U.S. government effort to expand dramatically the number of Americans studying and mastering critical need foreign languages. Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) institutes provide fully-funded group-based intensive language instruction and structured cultural enrichment experiences for seven to ten weeks for U.S. citizen undergraduate, Master’s and Ph.D. Students.

The Russian Flagship program is for advanced speakers of Russian and is divided into two parts – the domestic program and the international program.  The intent of the flagship program is to produce professionally fluent speakers of Russian.
